Key Sites on the Gaza Envelope Tour
From the Kobi Lookout Memorial, we’ll take in views of the entire region, spanning
both sides of the border. We’ll overlook northern Gaza, including Jabalia, Beit Lahia,
and Beit Hanoun. On the Israeli side, we’ll see Sderot, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Yad
Mordechai, Erez Crossing, Netiv HaAsara, and kibbutzim such as Or HaNer and Nir
Am.
A pre-arranged visit to one of the kibbutzim or moshavim that suffered from the
October 7th terror attack. Local residents will share their firsthand accounts of daily
life before the attack, the horrors of that fateful morning, the hostages, and the
determination to rebuild and grow anew.
We will visit the fortified Sderot Police Station, which became a primary target and
was ultimately destroyed. We’ll listen to stories of the heroism displayed by the
officers and hold a memorial ceremony at the monument honoring those who fell in
the defense of Sderot.
We will stop at shelters along Route 232, including the Re’im, Alumim, Be’eri, and
Mefalsim junctions. These were lifelines for those seeking refuge during the Nova
Festival tragedy. We will commemorate the fallen, share the dilemmas they faced,
and honor the selflessness of those who gave their lives to save others.
At the Tkumah assembly site, we will witness painful and tangible evidence of the
events. The lot contains approximately 1,600 vehicles collected from the roads of
the Gaza Envelope, including Hamas trucks, motorcycles, and an ambulance with a
particularly tragic story.
In Moshav Tkumah, we will visit a unique art exhibition within a protective shelter, created by artist Tamar Shlomo. We will hear the voices of residents sharing their personal and emotional stories from that devastating morning
The Nova Festival site in the Re’im Forest has become a symbol of remembrance. We will tour memorial spaces established by families and the central exhibit at the main square. Amid the profound loss, the stories and faces of the young men and women remind us of their legacy – a commitment to the joy of life. Throughout the day, we will honor the hostages still held captive by Hamas, now
over 400 days, and hope for their swift return. The tour will also include stops at local cafés to show support for businesses in the area.
